The COMMON Education Foundation relies on the dedication and commitment of COMMON community members to invest their time and talent in teaching, mentoring and connecting with students and educators throughout COMMON’s training and informational platforms, including conferences, online education and communications. In recognition of these contributions, we offer Scholarships each year to COMMON’s POWERUp meeting in the Spring.
Al Barsa Memorial Scholarship
The COMMON Education Foundation is proud to offer the Al Barsa Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will honor an individual who exemplifies Al’s commitment and dedication to the i community, is a mentor to others, and is an advocate to the i community. The recipient of this award will receive up to $2,000 in reimbursement or direct payment towards the following:
- Conference registration of COMMON’s Spring or Fall conferences *
- Hotel expenses towards attendance of COMMON’s Spring or Fall conferences *
- A plaque
- * Reimbursement/payment applicable only during the year the recipient won the award
Any current COMMON member is eligible for this award. Candidates may nominate themselves or may be nominated by another individual.
John Earl Memorial Scholarship
John Earl, a dedicated speaker and Subject Matter Expert for COMMON for over two decades, was dedicated to knowledge sharing and mentoring helping to make the community grow. He, along with the former IBM Partners in Education program planted the initial seed for what would become the COMMON Education Foundation. John was a tremendous influence in the community throughout his years and the memory of his dedication and accomplishments still live on today. With the support of HelpSystems, this scholarship has been established in John’s name to recognize a member of the COMMON community that exemplifies John’s dedication to helping the i Community grow. Scholarship is by committee nomination only and covers the Registration expenses for COMMON’s annual conference.
